The compounds are extracted in several steps to preserve the valuable compounds. First, the raw mushroom fruiting bodies are hand-sorted to remove impurities and then ground into a coarse powder. The ground mushrooms are placed into an extraction tank with hot water, which cracks the fungal cells to release the vitamins, minerals, active compounds and more inside. An ethanol solution is then added to pull even more active compounds from the mushrooms. Finally, membrane separation technology is used to ensure that large molecules like beta-glucans and active compounds are retained and concentrated from the liquid filtrate.

Repeated testing ensures the quality of the end product. Testing takes place after the harvest of the mushrooms and extraction process, then by a third-party lab, and finally, by our supplier to ensure fungal purity, beta-glucan and other active compound content, DNA verification of strains, and the absence of pesticides, microbes, additives, fillers and heavy metals.
