FAQ

  1. How do I care for 100% organic cotton linens?

We recommend washing your throw, before use, on a warm water setting, not combining lights with darker colors and avoiding the use of bleach. Tumble dry at a low setting.

For all our Sito® Organic Cotton Linens & Towels, it’s always best to follow the Care Instructions provided with the product.

  2. What does “staple length” mean?

In cotton, “staple length” refers to the length of the fibers. Each puffball on a cotton plant is called a boll, and each boll has around 250,000 individual cotton fibers, or staples. They can range in length from a little over 1” to 2” long. The longer the staple, the softer the fabric it produces. Items made with long-staple cotton are known to become softer over time and to resist pilling or tearing.

  3. What is GOTS certification?

Just as the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) sets standards for organic food, Global Organic Textile Standards (GOTS) provides third-party certification for the organic textile industry. The standard covers the processing, manufacturing, packaging, labeling, trading and distribution of all textiles made from at least 70% certified organic natural fibers. The final products may include, but are not limited to, fiber products, yarns, fabrics, clothes and home textiles, while the standard does not set criteria for leather products.

  4. Why do you call your textile brand “Sito”? What does it mean?

We named our line of cotton textiles Sito after the Ancient Greek goddess of harvest and agriculture, who is also known as Demeter. According to Greek mythology, Sito presided over the fertility of the earth, the sacred law and the cycle of life and death. By naming our textile line after this mythical goddess, we are communicating our commitment to regenerative agriculture and fertile soils around the globe.
