Each species of wild salmon has its own characteristic flavor and texture, but Alaskan wild sockeye is widely considered the most popular for its deep, rich “true salmon taste.”
Through decades of fostering relationships with local Alaskan fisherman, Vital Choice has earned rare access to the finest of fish. And now, it’s available to you.
Vital Choice’s sockeye comes from smaller harvest regions that host fewer boats and feature faster processing. That means fresher fish and fresh-caught quality, as the sockeye is flash-frozen within hours of harvest.
Certified Kosher, Vital Choice's top-grade Skinless Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon fillet portions are certified sustainably harvested.
These convenient 6-ounce portions are top-grade wild Alaskan sockeye salmon.
Sockeye salmon contains abundant omega-3 fatty acids (DHA and EPA) and vitamin D. Each 6-ounce serving provides 4 to 8 times more omega-3 DHA and EPA than the minimum daily intake recommended by health experts. On average, each 6-ounce portion provides:
Omega-3s – About 2 grams of omega-3 EPA and DHA, or up to eight times greater than the minimum daily intake recommended by most world health authorities.
Vitamin D3 – About 1,200 IUs in the optimal D3 form, which is more than most other fish, and more than any fortified food, approaching the child-to-adult U.S. RDA of 600 IUs.
Astaxanthin – About 7 mg* of this powerful antioxidant carotenoid-class nutrient with unique health benefits, found primarily in wild salmon.
Individually flash-frozen and vacuum-sealed, these boneless and skinless salmon fillet portions should retain their quality for 3 months when kept frozen at or below 0 degrees Fahrenheit. If stored in a deep freezer, use fillets within 6 to 12 months of purchase.
When ready to use, thaw under refrigeration at or below 38 degrees Fahrenheit. Before thawing, remove or puncture packaging. To thaw quickly, place intact frozen package in cool water for 20 to 30 minutes, or until contents are flexible. For best results, use within 12 hours of thawing.
Sockeye salmon cooks more quickly than other types of salmon, so be careful not to overcook. When ready to cook, rinse thawed salmon in cold, clean water. For deliciously moist results, brush with olive or macadamia nut oil, lemon or seasonings of your choice and grill, broil, or pan fry for 6 to 8 minutes total. Cook only until the center is still translucent. Your salmon will continue to cook for another 2 or 3 minutes after you remove it from the heat!
