Love this air purifier

Yes, it does take a bit of ongoing maintenance, but the payback of clean air is hands-down worth it. It helps that you can clean the filters and not have to replace them regularly. I could not remove the back at one point, about 3 or 4 cleanings since purchase. I sent the unit back for help and it has worked perfectly since then. It is much less expensive than a comparable unit by other sellers and cleans my whole house.

Failed in less than 2 years from purchase

The warrantee is too short for such an expensive item.

Do not buy

This works. Unfortunately it is a nightmare to clean. Little screws, cheap plastic. You must take it apart. Then put it back together to clean. Not practical for working people.

Amazingly clean smelling air

I have multiple dogs and cats (failed foster parent). I have multiple electric litterboxes in one guest bedroom which constantly clean, along with puppy pads for the dogs and the cats who don't like litterboxes. So, it can get smelly in that room pretty quickly. To make matters worse, the air intake for my house AC unit is in the hall just outside of that guest bedroom. So sometimes when the AC turns on, it sucks the smelly air from that bedroom into the air intake and distributes it throughout the house. It is worse in the master bedroom which is close by. Yuck. I have 2 LARGE air cleaners in that room with carbon pre-filters which are supposed to destroy odors. I also have an air cleaner in pretty much every room of the house to suck up loose fur and odors. Those air cleaners do suck up a lot of loose fur and dust from the litter, but they don't really clear out the pet smells very well. I have considered having a fan installed in the ceiling of the pet bedroom which would suck air out of that room and blow it outside. I bought this Mercola air cleaner and set it up in my living room which is centrally located to all the open rooms in the house. I hated to spend that much money, but I've bought enough Mercola products to trust that his claims on his products are really true. This unit is about 1/4 of the size of the large air cleaners in the pets' bedroom, so I wondered if it would really help. Let me tell you IT DOES. The air in my house never smelled so clean. It is amazing. Sure, there are sometimes odors when I walk into the room with the litterboxes, but at least I don't smell them when I walk in the front door. And odors are not being distributed throughout the house by the AC unit anymore. It really is amazing how well this small unit works. The only thing that I don't like about it is the bright white and green lights on the control panel. I have been trying to reduce the white and bright lights in my living room in the evenings because I have trouble sleeping. When I have all the lights down low, or just the blue blocker lights on, the control panel lights are REALLY bright. I'm going to have to tape a piece of cardboard over the panel to block the bright lights. There needs to be a way to turn those lights off or down, or change the lights on the panel to red instead of white and green.

Be prepared

I have 2 of these filters as we have a 2 story house. They are pricey but I believe in Dr. Mercola and I liked that they had several ways of purifying air. Be forwarned though, you get the little "perform cleaning" line on the screen about every month. These are a PAIN IN THE A** to clean. Today I had so much trouble separating layers of the filter to clean that I cracked the frame. It also frustrates me that they are made in Chyna. After the past 2 years, I tend to not want to purchase any items for health from there. So, if you are an old lady like me and you become frustrated having to deal with screws that won't come out, plastic parts that won't come apart to clean, this may not be the air purifier for you. I have no doubt that it improved air quality in my home, but the cleaning is an issue for me.

I haven't found improvement in my family's allergy symptoms after more than two months of use. Also, the cleaning method is complicated and time consuming. It's like you need to take a day off work to disassemble, clean and then reassemble once dry. Different parts of the machine need different cleaning tools/products. I did not expect this. And it needs to be done every moth. Not happy about this.

One of the best air purifier, purchased in 2013, keep it ON since, did regular maintenance, cleaning, just changed the PCO along with purification plate, so far heavy duty engine, super model PC AP2000! Happy with this purchase!

Excellent Product

I knew any product from Dr. Mercola is high quality, but I did not expect this to be this amazing. Excellent performance, build very durable, extremely easy to use and maintain and it works phenomenal. The Activated Oxygen on this machine is extremely powerful. Amazing product!

Absolutely the best air purifier we have ever used. Our Nonprofit received this purifier as a gift/donation. We run an animal rescue and the air quality in our new volunteer housing was poor (mold, dust, etc), especially while we were remodeling. This air purifier instantly made a huge difference in the air and breathing quality. Highly recommend it. It stays on in the lowest setting all the time. It is also safe to use with indoor exotic birds, which was a HUGE deal for us. We've noticed that the bird dust has been far less in the bird room since using this purifier.
